An InnerCity Collaborative CDC Restorative Justice Program

for Communities & Schools

Building stronger communities through the conversations that transform conflict and promote peace.
mIssion

Restorative Justice begins with concern for the victim but, equally important, it is an opportunity for an offender to turn a serious mistake into a learning experience.

It looks at the opportunity to repair harm and resolve conflict in a peaceful proactive manner. It is a non-punitive approach to community building by restoring relationships.

It is entirely voluntarily, and your child/youth will have the help of our volunteer facilitators who will meet with him/her on a regular basis to complete the items in a Restorative Agreement that will be created at an Opening Circle. Participants in the Opening Circle will include the offender(s), their parent(s) or other support person(s), a school counselor/teacher or administrator, InnerCityCollaborative CDC staff and, usually, the victim(s) and their supporters.

ICCCDC RJ uses a circle process to help individuals to understand the harm they have caused and hold them accountable. We give those who have been affected a voice, in order to address the harm and build stronger, more respectful communities.
